Death is one of the really hard things we have to deal with through life. This page will talk about some of the kinds of death and then the five stages of grieving. It'll also provide websites that can help cope with the losses of a loved one.
(Also, some songs that relate to the topic at hand. All videos found on youtube because vimeo didn't have them)

Some types of Death

suicidepills.jpgOverdose: Abusing drugs. This is like taking a whole bottle of pills or shooting too much heroine into your bloodstream.
Sarah McLachlan - Angel by Yvonne681990
(Sarah McLachlan wrote this song about drug addicts around the world, it's also about the Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboard player Jonathan Melvoin, who overdosed on heroin and died in 1996.)

Homicide: Killing another person purposely. This has happened, even at schools, then leads to the person doing it to commit suicide.
Cassie (Acoustic)- Flyleaf by SomeGuy1707
(This song is about Cassie Bernall, a student at Columbine High School who was killed in the massacre that occurred there. It was reported that her killer asked her if she believed in God, and when she answered "Yes" he killed her with a single gunshot to the head. Later investigations revealed that the question "Do you believe in God?" was actually asked to Valeen Schnurr, a student who survived the Columbine Massacre, by shooter Dylan Klebold.)

Sickness: This includes things like cancer, AIDS, or it could be linked to stuff like car accidents. My Chemical Romance - Cancer (Music Video & Lyrics) by edwardbella
(This music video is pretty self explanatory. It's about a patient dying of cancer.)

Bitch056.jpgSuicide: Killing yourself. Please talk yourself out of it! Talk to someone about whats going on with your life. Don't bottle it in, it's unhealthy and leads to thoughts like this. (Overdose links with suicide) Johnette Napolitano - Suicide Note with lyrics by mexiolandish
(This is basically talking about a person who watched a friend fall apart and didn't know what to do to help before the friend killed themself.)

Sinttulo-1.jpgNatural death: Dying of old age is always hard on the ones the deceased loved. We'll all end up like that and if your having a hard time coping, think of all the memories you had with the deceased.
Coping

Coping with death can be really hard and when it happens we fall into a "grieving period." In this period, there are 5 stages of grieving: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
grief-theory.jpg

1-Denial-"this can't be happening to me", looking for the former spouse in familiar places, or if it is death, setting the table for the person or acting as if they are still in living there. No crying. Not accepting or even acknowledging the loss.

2-Anger-"why me?", feelings of wanting to fight back or get even with spouse of divorce, for death, anger at the deceased, blaming them for leaving.

3-Bargaining-bargaining often takes place before the loss. Attempting to make deals with the spouse who is leaving, or attempting to make deals with God to stop or change the loss. Begging, wishing, praying for them to come back.

4-Depression-overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, frustration, bitterness, self pity, mourning loss of person as well as the hopes, dreams and plans for the future. Feeling lack of control, feeling numb. Perhaps feeling suicidal

5-Acceptance-there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. You have to accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. Realization that it takes two to make or break a marriage. Realization that the person is gone (in death) that it is not their fault, they didn't leave you on purpose. (even in cases of suicide, often the deceased person, was not in their right frame of mind) Finding the good that can come out of the pain of loss, finding comfort and healing. Our goals turn toward personal growth. Stay with fond memories of the person.

The only one that can get you through life is yourself.
Because only you can change what you feel most of the time.

Storys of people and their hope.

The sister of one of the students, Victoria Bennis, is determined to help prevent future tragedies. Victoria says, "Losing my younger brother John to suicide nine months ago has completely changed my life. It was as if everything that ever mattered to me disappeared. But I didn't give up. The first annual 'Save a Life' walk is our first step towards promoting a safer environment for our youth and with your help and support we can all work together to make a difference!"
